MICROBLADING

Microblading is the process by which realistic hair strokes are semi-permanently tattooed onto the eyebrows to make them appear naturally fuller and thicker. The shape of the eyebrows are calculated using your own facial features and structure as a guide, using a specialised eyebrow compass. The brows are checked using technology that has been developed to achieve total accuracy and symmetry. The treatment takes around 1-2 hours.

The pigment is applied into the surface layer of the dermis using a disposable sterile tool. The pigment is chosen to match the natural hair or eyebrow colour and may become several hues lighter than the natural hair colour to help achieve a more subtle and natural effect.

Symmetry is achieved through the Phibrows application and it is calculated while the clients eyes are closed because the muscles that effect the eyebrows are relaxed. Strokes are always drawn in the direction of the natural hair growth to achieve a hyper-realistic look. The treatment is performed with disposable tools and pigments and are produced in accordance with the highest standards. It is essential to have a consultation, so that you can understand the procedure and to communicate details if you:

  • have problematic skin

  • Have any serious health conditions

  • Take any medication

  • Have existing old permanent makeup on your eyebrows

Consultations are free and this is when a patch test is given. Patch tests need to be done at least 24hrs before the treatment. This is to make sure you have no reactions to the pigment that is going to be used.

Please get familiar with the Post-treatment aftercare thoroughly before the treatment. The skin must not be in the inflammatory process or the process of healing and regeneration before each treatment.

The following treatments are not recommended before having microblading:

  • Botox and fillers - needs to be done 30 days before or after

  • Fruits and milk acids

  • Laser treatment - need to wait approximately 60 days before or after

  • Chemical peels

  • Exposure to strong sunlight/ UV rays

Pre-treatment Information and Instructions:

Please check the list below to ensure it is safe for you to go ahead with having the microblading treatment.

If you have these conditions it is dangerous and not advised for you to have microblading:

  • keratosis

  • Seborrheic dermatitis

  • Broken capillaries in eyebrow area

  • Alcoholism

  • Keloid scars anywhere on your body

  • Pregnant and/or breastfeeding

  • Diabetes - type 1

  • All auto immune diseases (easy bleeding is often relevant)

  • Hepatitis/HIV

Letters from GPs are required if you have any of the following - You will not be treated without one:

  • Diabetes - type 2

  • Heart medication, bloody thinners or aspirin users

  • Eczema

  • Eyebrow infections

  • Haemophilia

  • Retinol product use

  • Cancer (after all cancer treatment has finished for 6 months)

Pain during the treatment depends on the client and their pain threshold. It is best not to use any topical anaesthetic as it can hinder the result.

The healing is fully completed 28 days after treatment and this is when a pigment top-up is needed, to fill in any pigment that is lost during the healing period.

Microblading is a form of cosmetic tattooing and a top-up procedure may be required. On very rare occasions, the pigment may migrate under the skin. There can be an immediate or delayed reaction to the pigment. A negative patch test result does not guarantee that you will not develop an allergic reaction after the full procedure. Semi-permanent cosmetics cannot be applied to those under the age of 18 years or those who are pregnant and/or breastfeeding.

Infections can occur if aftercare advice is not followed correctly. There may be some swelling and redness following the procedure and you may experience minor bleeding.

The healing process

The brows go through a range of different stages when healing, all of which are normal and to be expected. Colour can be quite dark during the first 5-7 days after treatment. After 7 days, it then fades to look more natural, this is all part of the process. There is also a period where the tattoo is barely visible. At approximately 10-15 days, excess skin builds up due to the natural healing and this subsides to reveal the pigment a few days later. You can relax knowing that this is part of the healing process. Colour longevity primarily depends on how oily the skin is. The oilier the skin, the quicker the colour fades.

The top-up session

A top-up session is done 4-6 weeks after the first treatment, because between 10-15% of drawn strokes fade after the first treatment.

Post treatment care is essential and makes up 70% of treatments success. If post treatment care is not thoroughly followed you will end up losing up to 80% of the strokes. Taking care and applying skin candy is of great importance in accordance with the aftercare instructions. I will provide you with an aftercare kit after the treatment.

Scheduled appointments for the top-up session procedure requires 48 hours notice of cancellation or rescheduling, and are performed within 6 weeks after the procedure.

Further information

Sweating and sun exposure also reduces colour longevity. On average the expected time until a colour refreshment is needed is between 10 and 18 months. With oily skin it can be a lot sooner.

The success of the treatment depends on:

  • skin quality

  • post-treatment care

  • lifestyle and exposure to external factor

These factors are out of the artist’s control. Results are not guaranteed.

Please arrive on time to appointments, late arrivals will result in having to reschedule and means deposits will be lost.

Please note that your eyebrows are not fully done until AFTER the topup. We look forward to meeting  you and giving you the best brows possible to suit you.
